Make Music Day 2020, 25×12  Live Online Lesson – too many Artas in one video…

I had this amazing opportunity to be a part of makemusicday.org 25×12 Online Live Lessons.

When thinking about the concept of what to bring to my online lesson, I arranged this beautiful song by Johnny Nash I Can See Clearly Now for voices and added a little beat to it. (as an experiment)

With all of this injustice in the world, global pandemic, and the Black Lives Matter Movement, music is the only place where I find peace, healing energy and love. I thought that this song is also a great fit for these times, and hopefully, soon we will find clarity inside of us, and also we will be surrounded by one!

Arta Jēkabsone dedicates music to this emotional initiative ” Paliec Mājās” (Stay Home) as a response to the current global crisis – COVID 19

A note from Arta:

This is definitely one of the highlights in these past weeks while being stuck in my apartment. I am happy and blessed to still keep on doing what I love the most and together with people, who truly create ideas that stem from their hearts and their willingness to make not only theirs but also other people’s days better.
Only together we can encourage our loved ones, our friends, our friends of friends to stay home so that soon we are able to do what we love the most.
Be well and healthy!

!!! FAIRYTALE AISMA IS OUT!!!

AISMA is an international ensemble of musicians performing a through-composed suite, based on a narrative. The music is vivid, full of splashes of color, pulsating micro-rhythms, and melodies, it exists in a very unique line between composition and improvisation, where the main focus is not on the individual, but the collective.

Two voices, nothing more. Songs in English and the universal language of music: Own compositions, soundscapes, improvised, electronic, harmonic, voluptuous… In search of the inner selves of two young singers. Somewhere between New York, Berlin, Latvia, and Finland. Nothing distracts from the beauty of two voices that really have something to say! Inspired by musicians like Meredith Monk, Jenny Hval, or Nils Frahm. Arta Jēkabsone and Erik Leuthäuser created a musical duo-concept that deals with the opposites „light“ and „darkness“ from every angle possible. Their debut album „Yesterday Still Lies Between The Floorboards“ will be released by Unit Records on October 5th, 2018. Both singers met at the world-renowned and prestigious Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition 2016 placing 1st and 2nd and decided to continue working together: And now here they are!
